Year 4 have been learning about Sparta and Athens.
Year 4 have enjoyed learning about Sparta and Athens this week. We looked at each city-state, decided which we would have preferred to live in and then had a healthy debate to see if we could persuade others to change their minds.
At the start of the debate, more children favoured Sparta, as girls could go to school, do gymnastics and dance. However, the thought of boys having to start training to join the army at 7 years old swayed many and Athens won the debate.
Ask your child where they would live and why, you’ll hopefully get some passionate responses.
