Online Safety
Welcome to our online safety page. As technology continues to play an important role in our lives, ensuring the safety of our students in the digital world is crucial.
Here at St. Mary Magdalen's, we recognise the important role that parents and carers play in supporting their children's online experiences. We have created this page to be a hub for resources to ensure that everyone is well-informed about the best practices for online safety.
Below you will find our monthly newsletters, links to useful websites and recordings of online webinars that aim to educate parents and carers about the latest developments and areas to be informed about best practices.
Online Safety Links
Below you will find some excellent links to clips to use with your children explaining about all aspects of online safety from cyberbullying to protecting their identity and privacy.
Staying Safe Online
As we start the new academic year it is a good time to think about the activities our children are doing online. It can be a worry thinking about what children are doing online, and we need to offer them ongoing support.
Here is a downloadable booklet which tells you all you need to know about E-Safety, including setting filters on your computers:
We ask that all parents make sure they know what websites their children are visiting and that they do not allow them to have social media accounts. Sites like Facebook have a minimum age of 13 so primary school age children should not be on them.
Free E-Safety Webinar for parents & carers:
In October 2023 we invited all parents and those involved in caring for children, to attend a free webinar to discuss how best to help and support children with their online activities.
If you were unable to attend, or would like to watch it again, we have uploaded a recording of the session below, and would encourage you to watch it as it provides crucial information that will help us all to protect our precious children.
(Please note that part of the session contains some information and subject matters which are not suitable for you to watch with under 18s. There is a warning given at the appropriate time in the video.)
The host of the session has also put together the attached document with website links and information to support the presentation.
**** Please note - This video is suitable for over 18s only ****
