Year 5 Science21 May 2024 (by Daniel Campbell (Daniel Campbell)) |
In this week’s science lesson, year 5 children explored gravity by testing whether an object's mass affects how fast it falls.
They dropped tennis balls, footballs, shuttlecocks, ping pong balls and pens from the same height in the playground.
To their surprise, most objects hit the ground simultaneously, demonstrating that gravity acts equally on all masses. The children noticed that the results were sometimes affected by light winds and the shape of the objects being dropped.
Well done year 5 – you showed curiosity and imagination in this hands-on lesson!
