Year 6 - Gardening and Sustainability18 March 2025 (by Cheryl Wallace (Cheryl Wallace)) |
The children have made a start at growing their own vegetables.
The children worked in groups to look at seeds and onion sets and worked out how to plant them. They have planted carrot, spring onion and leek seeds and onion sets. They had to look at the packets and work out the depth to plant them and ensure that they only picked vegetables that could be planted outside at this time of the year.
Using water from our newly installed water butt the children have been learning about sustainability and are able to help the vegetables to grow by recycling the rain water that we are collecting.
Watch out for some amazing vegetables that we hope we will have grown in a few months.
