Success for Year 5 cricketers

Congratulations to the Year 5 team who finished 3rd at the South Ribble Kwik Cricket Tournament held at Leyland Cricket Club. Despite being drawn in ‘the group of death’ the team managed to progress all the way to the semi-final stage where they were narrowly beaten by a very experienced team from Leyland Methodist Junior School. They played some fantastic cricket along the way and were commended throughout for their attitude, sportsmanship and team spirit. Thank you to the parents and grandparents who came along to support the team – you were certainly entertained. It is not always appropriate to single out an individual when the success on the day was down to the whole team but how amazing was Reagan? He smashed seven consecutive sixes to completely swing our game against St Mary’s and St Benedict’s – what an exceptional talent! Unfortunately the 3rd & 4th play-off game was cancelled due to the rain so the tournament organisers awarded us a richly deserved joint 3rd. Yet again the school would like to say a big thank you to Phil Walsh and Mr Collins for preparing the team so well. Phil was so gripped on the day that he even cancelled his afternoon of golf to cheer the team on. Mr Collins ended the day completely soaked but brimming with pride at the school’s performance. Thank you also to Mr Henry who helped manage the team on the day." Team: Reagan Mitchell, William James, William Roach, Joshua Crook, Elena Domokos, Megan Fleming, Anna Gaughan and Isatta Sonnah.
