Junior classes demonstrate very mature approaches
I did lessons in each of the junior classes this week about anti bullying. All children clearly understand what bullying is and how to report it. With the older juniors we delved into recognising how we might spot someone who is being bullied and what we can do to help. The most interesting discussions were around the role of the bystander. Standing up to people we consider to believe our friends when they are behaving in a way we know is wrong is extremely hard but can be very powerful. I encouraged the children to keep open channels of communication with their parents and not to hide anything from them, especially regarding phones, computers and social media. Mrs Clemo also did lessons about anger management where children were made aware of the consequences of losing their temper and hurting people.
