Momo online frights1 March 2019 (by Claire McKinnon) |
How to deal with this nonsense
Sadly it is hard to protect your children from hearing about things and even some of our older children have been frightened by talk about Momo. This guidance put together by National Online Safety seems very sensible and well worth a read if your child is affected. I know its small but you can find it on their website if you are struggling to read it.
Again I urge you to monitor what your children are watching especially on Youtube, There is such a lot of innocent looking stuff that influences children negatively. On the other hand there are so many great things there and on the TV that you could direct your children to that would impact in a positive way.
Again I also urge you to not allow your children on things they are too young for. An age limit for social media such as Instagram is 13 because they could well be exposed to photos and videos they are too young to see, and they can also use it to hurt one another.
